This is a very small study of Ataturk. Photos of Ataturk are mostly from the World War One era and thus very poor in detail, especially on the light side of his face. I am not entirely satisfied with my portrayals.
People are finely individual, and we are attuned to subtle variation. Thus we can easily discern a known face among the billions of faces on the planet. Understanding facial structure well, an artist can recreate form where photographic details have been lost, but it is a challenge of supreme nuance to restore the distinctive features of one heroic historic man.
