My son met his wife Julia in medical school and thus, in the early years of my knowing her, she was studying and reading most all the time.
This was an ambitious painting. All the objects here, from my grandmother's teapot (brought on the boat from Sweden when she immigrated in 1928) to the stone fruit on the Turkish dish, have personal meaning. My illustrated Franklin Library books, painted in the foreground, appear in many of my paintings.
