I travelled to Georgia to photograph this paper mill to include in an annual report for the container manufacturer Continental Group. The day dawned well, but by the time I drove to the site, a huge fog had settled over town. One could hardly make out my designated building in the distance.
I snapped a few shots but then asked some workers whether anyone had a good 35mm camera. I hired a kindly man to shoot a roll of film later on, on a good day, from the exact spot where we stood. His photos had beautiful billowy violet smoke formations that, at paint sketch stage, I was instructed to minimize significantly. Understandable, I guess, this being art and not reality.
